You may need this certificate if you have completed building work in accordance with a building permit for minor structural alterations that do not change the character or use of a building. Your building permit will specify if a certificate of final inspection is required.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

The person in charge of carrying out building work (generally the building practitioner) must notify the relevant building surveyor at the completion of each mandatory notification stage of building:

  • prior to placing a footing
  • prior to pouring an in-situ reinforced concrete member nominated by the relevant building surveyor
  • completion of framework
  • upon completion of all building work.
