You will require this permit if you intend to keep animals. In some cases this permit will only be required where the number of animals exceeds a limit set by the council. Your council will outline the types of animals covered by this permit.

Eligibility requirements

Permits are issued to the Animal Owner and all animals must be registered with the South Gippsland Shire Council. The maximum number of dogs and cats allowed on a property in a residential area is 2 dogs and 2 cats. If you wish to keep more than this, you must obtain a permit from Council. Please consult the Council directly for more information on this permit.

Duration

Permits are issued for up to one year and are subject to an annual renewal process, payable by the 10th April each year.
