National Vendor Declaration - Victoria

Service summary

You will be required to complete a National Vendor Declaration (NVD) when undertaking certain business activities to ensure the maintenance of biosecurity all Australian jurisdictions. These activities include:

  • transporting livestock between properties
  • sale or buying of livestock
  • abattoir activities
  • weighing of livestock
  • other similar activities.
These requirements must be met for:
  • cattle
  • pigs
  • sheep
  • calves.

A code of practice can be either a legal requirement or non-legal requirement. Legal codes of practice are defined as a result of legislation. Non-legal codes of practice are defined by industry regulators and bodies.

Eligibility requirements

To create a NDV you must:
  • have a registered Property Identification Code (PIC)
  • have a Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) code
  • submit the required forms.
