Australian Standard AS 4758.1:2015 Lifejackets - General Requirements - Victoria

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to use recreational vessel or hire and drive vessel. A personal flotation device (PFD) must be worn on any open area on a marine vessel. This standard sets out the requirements for PFD Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.

The standard specifies requirements for personal flotation devices designed for use in supervised situations to assist flotation during short-term immersion in sheltered waters during daylight hours, and also intended for use in water sports or as clothing for special situations where assistance is immediately at hand.
