You will be required to comply with this standard if you are an employer, main contractor or self-employed and you intend to undertake any work within a confined space in your workplace.
You must ensure that all work in confined spaces at your workplace complies with the provisions of this standard.
This standard provides requirements and guidance in eliminating or minimising the need to enter confined spaces and in avoiding hazards which may be encountered where entry to a confined space is unavoidable.
Confined space means an enclosed or partially enclosed space which is not intended or designed primarily as a workplace, is at atmospheric pressure during occupancy and has restricted means for entry and exit.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
Code of Practice
A code of practice can be either a legal requirement or non-legal requirement. Legal codes of practice are defined as a result of legislation. Non-legal codes of practice are defined by industry regulators and bodies.
