You will require this exemption if you are a financier, car hire operator or auctioneer and you intend to buy or sell motor vehicles without a motor vehicle dealer's licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this exemption you must:

  • complete the required forms
  • pay the prescribed fees.

In addition, If you are a financier or car hire operator you must ordinarily dispose of repossessed vehicles directly to dealers. If you are a car hire operator or auctioneer you must ensure that the buying or selling of vehicles does not comprise a significant part of your business.
