You will require this licence if you intend to trade in avian fauna (birds). This licence will authorise you to buy, sell or otherwise deal in certain species of birds from a nominated address. There are three classes of licence that authorise you to deal in different types of birds. The different classes of birds are detailed on the attached form.
If you intend to clip the wings of wild avian fauna you will need to seek separate approval from the Agency. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must:
- provide details of any relevant convictions relating to wildlife
- be able to identify all the species of avian fauna specified in your application
- detail the location of the premises and the adequacy of facilities
- show that the keeping of and dealing in avian fauna at the location nominated is authorised by your relevant local council
- demonstrate personal experience and ability in keeping and dealing in avian fauna
- complete the required forms
- pay the prescribed fee.
