Restaurant Liquor Licence - Western Australia

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to sell or supply liquor for patrons to consume at your premises along with a meal (for example at a restaurant). You can apply for this licence if the primary focus of your business is the supply of genuine meals. The supply of alcohol must be secondary to this.

Applications for this licence may be made as:

  • an individual person
  • a director representing a company
  • two or more individual persons or companies jointly
  • an association.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the licence you must:

  • demonstrate that the application is in the public interest, having regard to the likely health and social impacts on the community and sub-groups within the community
  • show that the position, nature and standard of your premises are suitable
  • be deemed fit and proper
  • submit the required forms
  • pay the prescribed fee.

For a venue to be suitable for a restaurant licence it must have a kitchen equipped to provide meals, sufficient toilet facilities and a dining area must always be set up with tables and chairs for dining.

Indefinite subject to retaining the same premises and paying the annual licence fee.
