You will require this permit if you intend to conduct a funeral at a cemetery. A single funeral permit authorises you to conduct one funeral at a particular cemetery.
Single funeral permits may be issued for one of two purposes:
- To authorise someone who does not hold a funeral director's licence to conduct a funeral; or
- To authorise the holder of a funeral director's licence to conduct a funeral at another cemetery not specified in his or her licence.
By obtaining a single funeral permit, you become the acting funeral director and it is your responsibility to arrange for all permits, applications and authorities, as well as all other matters, associated with the funeral.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this permit you must:
- Be of a good reputation and be considered fit to conduct a funeral;
- Have access to suitable facilities and equipment;
- Lodge the required burial or cremation application and associated certificates and permits; and
- Pay the permit fees.
