General Purpose Lease (Onshore Minerals) - Western Australia

Service summary

You may require this lease if you intend to construct infrastructure relating to mining production activities in onshore areas of Western Australia.

A general purpose lease entitles you to exclusive occupation of the land. It may be granted for one of the following purposes:

  • Erecting, placing and operating machinery in connection with mining operations;
  • Depositing or treating minerals or tailings obtain from any land; or
  • Using the land for any other specified purpose directly connected with mining operations.

The maximum area you may be granted under a general purpose lease is 10 hectares, unless the Agency is satisfied that a larger area of land is necessary. You may apply for multiple general purpose leases. A general purpose lease is limited to 15 metres below the lowest part of the natural surface of the land.

  • Pay the required rent for the first year of the term of the lease; and
