Professional Kangaroo Shooter's Licence - Western Australia

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to shoot kangaroos for sale and sell the carcasses or skins to a kangaroo processor. This licence will authorise you to shoot western grey kangaroos and red kangaroos in certain municipal areas and with the written permission of the land owner.

Please note that in addition to this licence the number of kangaroos you can take is limited by a system of royalty tags, which must be attached to each carcass.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • provide letters of approval from land holders
  • provide details of any prior convictions relating to wildlife
  • hold a current firearm licence
  • hold a current West Australian marksmanship certificate
  • have completed the required game meat handling and hygiene courses
  • complete the required forms
  • pay the prescribed fee.
