Firearm Repairer's Licence - Western Australia

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to repair firearms in Western Australia. This licence will authorise you and your employees to repair firearms belonging to people who are authorised to possess them. You will also be authorised to possess ammunition for the firearms you are repairing. You will be authorised to carry out your repair business at one premise only, which will be specified in your licence.

This licence also authorises you to issue firearm serviceability certificates.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Provide a 100 point proof of identification;
  • Provide a serviceability certificate for each firearm you intend to licence;
  • Obtain a firearms awareness certificate;
  • Be a fit and proper person to hold a firearms licence;
  • Have good reason for acquiring or possessing the firearm or ammunition to which the application relates; and
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and the capability to repair firearms and ammunition by having successfully completed an examination set by the Police Department.
