Perth Parking Bay Licence - Western Australia

Service summary

You will require this licence if you are the owner of commercial land or a commercial building in the Perth parking management area and you intend to permit one or more vehicles to be parked on your property.

You may also require separate planning approval for your parking facilities. Parking associated exclusively with private residential use does not need to be licensed.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must be the owner of land or a building in the Perth parking management area.

The parking of the vehicles must be consistent with the Perth Parking Policy. To decide whether to issue this licence, the Agency will take into account the effect of the proposed parking on pedestrian traffic, vehicle traffic flow, the amenity of the environment, and the availability of public transport.

The Agency may issue a licence contrary to the Perth Parking Policy if it is reasonable to do so in the circumstances.


A valid parking licence is valid for up to a maximum of one year between the period 1 July and 30 June. For the following licensing period a renewal assessment will be sent before 30 June based on the current parking details.



The following fees are payable for a parking facility that has more than 5 parking bays:

  • For each bay that is publicly available with no time limits: $1107.70
  • For each bay on a road or roadside: $1023.50
  • For each bay that is available to the public and in which 50% of the vehicles being parked stay for less than 4 hours and at least 90% stay for less than 6 hours: $1023.50
  • For each other bay: $1151.90.

Exemptions from fees may apply for parking bays set aside for:

  • disabled persons
  • work vehicles
  • places of public worship
  • recreational parks.



Your application must include your name and address, the address of the land or building and development approval indicating the number of parking bays allowed and the uses for which they have been approved.
