You may require this licence if you intend to undertake any work that will involve the removal of non-friable asbestos or asbestos-containing materials. This licence will authorise you to remove bonded (non-friable) asbestos in amounts exceeding 10 square metres in total, but not friable asbestos.
If you intend to remove all forms of asbestos (both friable and non-friable), you should instead apply for an unrestricted asbestos licence.
If you intend to remove only bonded (non-friable) asbestos less than 10 square metres in total, you do not require a licence.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must:
- complete an approved Restricted Asbestos Removal Licence training course with a Registered Training Organisation
- satisfy the Agency that you are able to do asbestos work involving non-friable asbestos-containing material in a safe and proper manner
- be a fit and proper person to hold the licence
- submit the required form
- pay the required fee.
