Service summary

You may be required to comply with this code if you are involved in the use of, or care for animals used for scientific purposes. Specifically, you must comply with this code if you intend to use animals for:

  • Scientific research
  • Teaching associated with educational outcomes in the area of science
  • Field trials
  • Product testing
  • Diagnosis
  • The production of biological products
  • Environmental studies.

The purpose of this code is to promote the ethical, humane and responsible care and use of animals for scientific purposes, and to provide an ethical framework within which decisions and actions of those involved in the care and use of animals for scientific purposes may be taken.
