5C Licence - Groundwater - Western Australia

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to dig or operate a well or artesian bore, or do any other activity that utilises groundwater on a property that is located within a proclaimed groundwater area. This licence is required in all proclaimed areas and for all artesian groundwater wells throughout the State.

New licences will only be issued where the allocation limit has not been reached. Some exemptions from licensing apply within various proclaimed areas.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • detail the location of the property in relation to proclaimed areas
  • provide details of the proposed groundwater usage on the property
  • provide details of the groundwater availability with a particular groundwater area
  • complete the required form.
