You will require this licence if you intend to act as a manager of a bookmaker's business that operates under a partnership or body corporate structure. A bookmaker provides wagering (betting) services to the general public at race courses or sporting grounds.
A bookmaker's manager licence authorises you to make bets, write betting tickets, and carry out the activities of a bookmaker's clerk in relation to the business of a bookmaker on a race course or sporting ground. In order to conduct the activities of a bookmaker at a specific racing course or sporting ground you must also have received permission from the authority that controls the course or grounds.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must satisfy each of the following:
- be at least 18 years old
- provide any documentation required by the Agency
- have knowledge of the business of bookmaking and the legal obligations of bookmakers
- be a fit and proper person to hold the licence
- submit the required form
- pay the required fees.
If you are appointed to act as a manager of a partnership or body corporate operating a bookmaking business, that partnership or body must notify the Agency within seven days of your appointment.
