You will require this licence if you intend to instruct any learner driver for reward or other payment. Your licence will authorise you to act as an instructor for one or more classes of vehicles.
Where you have made an application, and it is yet to be assessed, or you do not meet all or any of the requirements, you may request a temporary permit. A permit may authorise you to act as a driving instructor for up to 6 months.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must:
- Be at least 21 years old;
- Be considered to be a person of good character and a fit and proper person;
- Have a National Police Check;
- Be competent to teach people to drive motor vehicles;
- Have held the relevant class of driver's licence for 3 years; and
- Pass any tests and courses required by the Agency.
