Gasfitting Authorisation - Western Australia

Service summary

You may require this authorisation if you intend to undertake specific gasfitting works outside the scope of a gasfitting licence or permit. This authorisation only applies if you have been employed by a specific employer or person who has contracted you to undertake the works. Specified gasfitting works include one off projects such as major gas installations and the maintenance of Type B appliances on industrial sites.

Gasfitting refers to any operation, work, or process in connection with the installation, removal, demolition, replacement, alteration, maintenance or repair of a gas installation (including the installation or conversion of a gas fuelled engine). Your authorisation will specify the class of gasfitting works you are authorised to undertake.

Your authorisation will also allow you to supervise the specified gasfitting work in certain circumstances.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authorisation you must:

  • Have adequate theoretical and practical knowledge and adequate skills to carry out the gasfitting;
  • Have an adequate knowledge of the Act and regulations;
  • Be a fit and proper person to carry out the gasfitting;
  • Submit the required forms; and
  • Pay the required fees.

The practical experience and qualifications required vary according to the type of gasfitting work.
