Description

You will require this approval if you intend to manufacture a large industrial or commercial gas appliance. A gas appliance is a gas burning appliance that has been manufactured, adapted or is designed for connection to a consumer piping system. A consumer piping system is a system of pipes, pipe fasteners and things connected to the pipes that is used to carry gas from:

  • The outlet of a meter to measure the consumption of gas on the premises to a gas appliance inlet; or
  • The outlet of a gas storage tank or cylinder to a gas appliance inlet.

A type B appliance means a gas appliance that consumes gas at a rate of 10MJ/h. The gas appliance will be required to comply with the relevant standards and codes of practice. You may not require this approval if the appliance is already approved under a corresponding law.
