Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You will be required to comply with this code if you operate a food business within the Australian Capital Territory. This includes any premises (such as a restaurant, cafe, home kitchen, farm stall or mobile food vehicle) where food is prepared, manufactured, processed or treated, stored, handled, served and supplied for sale by retail or wholesale. The Food Standards Code is a collection of individual food standards:

  • Chapter 1 deals with standards that apply to the majority of foods, such as labelling requirements and additives;
  • Chapter 2 includes compositional requirements for specific foods such as meat, eggs, fish and alcoholic beverages;
  • Chapter 3 deals with food hygiene issues in Australia; and.
  • Chapter 4 deals with primary production and processing standards.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
