Description

You must comply with this standard if you manufacture or use fibre rope for scaffolding purposes. This standard referenced in the legislation has been superseded and is replaced by:

  • AS 4142.1-1993 Care and safe usage;
  • AS 4142.2-1993 Three-strand hawser-laid and eight-strand plaited; and
  • AS 4143.1-1993 Dimensions, linear density, breaking force and elongation.

These standards give guidance on the selection, care, inspection and maintenance of manila fibre ropes. Recommendations for the safe usage of ropes are also included. They also specify apparatus, procedures and calculations for measuring the diameter, length of lay, linear density, breaking force and elongation of fibre ropes.
