Australian Standard Specification B 9-1938 - Australian Capital Territory


You must comply with this standard if you manufacture or use steel wire ropes for scaffolding.

This standard referenced in the legislation has been replaced by Australian Standard 3569-2010 Steel Wire Ropes - Product Specification. It specifies requirements for steel wire ropes for all purposes, and includes tables giving linear mass and minimum breaking force against nominal diameter for each type of rope construction.

The standard specifies the minimum requirements for:

  • Manufacturing materials and tools;
  • Marking and packing of steel wire ropes; and
  • Testing.
