Application for a Unique Vessel Identifier - Australian Government

Description

You will need to apply for a unique vessel identifier if you work with or own a domestic commercial vessel. By law, as all domestic commercial vessels are required to have one.

Vessel identifiers are used by the National Regulator, marine safety inspectors and other vessel operators to identity domestic commercial vessels. Vessel identifiers also assist with search and rescue purposes or if your vessel is lost or stolen.

To be eligible, you must:

  • obtain a certificate of survey
  • obtain a certificate of operation
  • fill out any required forms

Duration

Unique identifiers stay with the vessel for it's lifetime.
