From June 2016, you will require this approval if you intend to carry out biosecurity activities to manage biosecurity risks associated with specified goods, premises or other things under an arrangement. Biosecurity risks include:
- the likelihood of a disease or pest entering, establishing itself or spreading in Australia
potential of invasive pests and diseases to cause harm to human, animal or
plant health; to the environment or cause economic consequences associated
with the entry, establishment or spread of the disease or pest.
Goods include the following:
- an animal
- a plant
- a sample or specimen of a disease agent
- a pest
- any other article, substance or thing, including any kind of moveable property.
A proposed arrangement may provide for a person to carry out biosecurity activities at a particular place.
