You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend apply for a refrigerant air-conditioning (RAC) industry permit.

A RAC industry permit means any of the following:

  • Refrigerant handling licence;
  • Refrigerant trading authorisation;
  • RAC equipment manufacturing authorisation;
  • Halon special permit; or
  • Restricted refrigerant trading authorisation.

To be eligible for a permit you must demonstrate your knowledge of any standard relevant to work to be carried out under your permit. You must carry out any work under a permit in accordance with the relevant standard.

This standard has been superseded by AS/NZS 1167.1:2005. It specifies requirements for filler metals in all forms for brazing and braze welding processes. It includes requirements for chemical composition and analysis, packing and marking.
