You will be required to apply for this certificate if you operate an aircraft. All aircraft are required to have a Certificate of Airworthiness, including those imported into Australia, except some ultralight aeroplanes, sport gyroplanes, hang gliders and aircraft operating under a special flight permit.
A certificate is issued to confirm that:
- The aircraft conforms with the applicable type of design maintenance;
- The aircraft conforms with the applicable type of preventative maintenance;
- Alterations have been performed in accordance with the approved modification and repair design; and
- Is in a condition for safe operation.
