Certificate of Safety Training - Australian Government


You will require this certificate if you are a seafarer on board a regulated Australian vessel.

A regulated Australian vessel is:

  • registered or, required to be registered
  • not a recreational vessel
  • proceeding on an overseas voyage
  • an opt-in declaration is in force for the vessel.

Please note that the Agency has advised that this code is called Marine Orders - Part 70: Seafarer Certification.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be medically fit and have satisfactorily completed an approved training course
  • completed the relevant seafarer training courses.
