You may be required to comply with this code if you intend to transport dangerous chemicals in bulk by sea.
Dangerous chemicals in bulk must not be loaded onto, or unloaded from, a ship constructed prior to 1 July 1986.
This code provides an international standard for the safe carriage by ships of dangerous and noxious chemicals in bulk and prescribes the constructional features of such ships (regardless of their tonnage) and the equipment they should carry in order to minimize risks to the ship, its crew and the environment.
Please note that this Code is also referred to as the IBC Code.
Please consult the Agency Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
