You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend to operate an offshore petroleum facility and you intend to use chrysotile asbestos in your operations.
An offshore petroleum facility is a vessel or structure located at a site in Commonwealth waters which is used for:
- the recovery, processing, storage and offloading of petroleum
- drilling or servicing a well for petroleum
- laying pipes for petroleum
- other purposes related to offshore petroleum operations.
The use of chryostile asbestos is restricted under the regulations. These restrictions advise that you may apply chrysotile asbestos if the chrysotile asbestos is in a product specified in the National List of Exemptions contained in Schedule 2 of this Standard.
