You will be required to comply with these recommendations if you hold a source or facility licence, and intend to deal with controlled materials, controlled apparatus or controlled facilities.
Controlled apparatus includes an apparatus which produces harmful non-ionizing radiation when energised. A controlled facility is a nuclear installation or a prescribed radiation facility. Controlled material means any natural or artificial material, which emits ionizing radiation spontaneously.
The aim of these recommendations is to develop uniform methods of radiation protection throughout the country on ionizing radiation protection procedures. Radiation protection is concerned with the protection of individuals and populations against possible detrimental effects of radiation.
