Description

You will be required to apply for this licence if you intend to operate a site for a market for the sale of second-hand motor vehicles.

This licence does not authorise you to sell motor vehicles, it authorises you to operate a market where other people sell their second-hand motor vehicles.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be of good fame and character;
  • Choose a site to carry on a business as a car market operator, which is not prohibited by the provisions of the lease on the land or any other laws;
  • Not be the holder of, or an applicant for, a vehicle sale licence;
  • Not be bankrupt or benefiting under any law for the relief of bankrupt or insolvent debtors;
  • Not hold a motor vehicle dealers licence;
  • Submit the required application form and documentation; and
  • Pay the prescribed fee.
