Notice of Erection of Scaffolding for Building Work - Australian Capital Territory


You will be required to give notice if you intend to erect any scaffolding, cranes, plant or hoists for use on a building project. You are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice before you start work.

This notification is required for all building, excavation or compressed air work where employees will be required to work while suspended from a crane, hoist or scaffolding. You will be required to ensure that:

  • All hazards are identified;
  • Risks are assessed and controlled during each stage of building work; and
  • Approval is sought before conducting any work while suspended from a crane.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility Requirements

You must provide the following information:

  • The principal contractor of the work to be undertaken;
  • Supervisor of the works to be undertaken;
  • Precise location of the work, including street, block and section;
  • Type of crane and details of the crane;
  • People involved; and
  • Date the equipment is to be in use and what hours it will be used.
