In order to breed greyhounds in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), each sire (male greyhound) involved in the breeding must have a stud master. You will require this registration if you intend to act as a stud master.
A stud master is the person who will be held responsible for supervising the mating activities of greyhounds. This includes the care, control and / or custody of the sire.
Please be aware that:
- Male greyhounds must be registered as stud sires before they can breed in Australia. Stud Sire registration is administered through a national controlling body;
- You will need to maintain a service notice book when issued with this registration, where you are required to keep a record of all activities;
- You are required to lodge a notice of service within 14 days of the first mating service; and
- You must comply with the specified rules and your registration may be subject to conditions.
