Environmental Impact Assessment - Australian Antarctic Territory - Australian Government


You will require this approval if you intend to undertake any commercial or non-commercial activity in the Antarctic Region. Broadly, the Antarctic Region is the area south of 60 degrees South.

Before your activity commences in the Australian Antarctic Territory, or the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands, an environmental impact assessment must be submitted and authorised.

Approved activities may then be subject to other licences, the need for which will vary according to the type of activity to be undertaken.
