International Chamber of Shipping Guide to Helicopter/Ship Operations - Australian Government

Description

You will be required to comply with this standard if you operate a ship that is registered in Australia, or any ship in Australian territorial waters.

The master of a ship cannot permit persons or goods to be transferred from a helicopter to a ship unless the owner or master has provided such shipboard arrangements, equipment, training and drills that are at least as effective as those specified in the ICS Guide.

The ICS Guide sets out recommended dimensions and obstacle free zones for helicopter landing and operating areas. Any divergence from these recommendations must be clearly documented and communicated to the helicopter pilot prior to commencing operations.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
