Approval to Issue Food Safety Supervisor Certificates - New South Wales

Description

You will require this approval if you operate a registered training organisation (RTO) that intends to issue food safety supervisor (FSS) certificates. This involves the delivery of training focusing on three key focus areas:

  • Safe egg handling;
  • Allergen management; and
  • Cleaning and sanitising practices.

Please note that you must ensure that your RTO does not allow any person to conduct training related to the FSS certificate unless they have been approved to do so in writing by the Authority.

All businesses that deal with potentially hazardous, ready-to eat food that is not pre-packaged are required to appoint at least one Food Safety Supervisor. The types of food businesses that may need to have a Food Safety Supervisor are restaurants, cafe, takeaway shops, caterers, bakeries, pubs, clubs, hotels and supermarkets (hot food sales).
