Licence to Pick or Harvest Protected Native Plants - New South Wales

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to pick or harvest protected native plants for commercial purposes. This licence covers activities conducted by the cut flower industry. Protected native plants are listed in Schedule 13 of the Act.

Please note that there are two classes of licence, specifically:

  • A Picker Licence that authorises you to pick protected native plants from property you do not own, including National Parks, State Forests, etc; and
  • A Wild Harvester Licence that allows you to harvest protected native plants from stands on your own property.

Picking of a plant includes gathering, plucking, cutting, pulling up, destroying, poisoning, taking, digging up, removing or injuring any part of the plant.

Please be aware that if you intend to grow and harvest protected and threatened native plants then you will require a Grower Licence.

Approval Time

A period of 45 days should be allowed for processing of applications.
