You will require this licence if you intend to use a motor vehicle as a taxi in New South Wales. Please be aware that holding this licence does not mean you must own or operate a taxi. You may lease the use of your licence to another operator to run the business.
There are three types of taxi licences that can be obtained:
- Ordinary taxi licence
- Short-term taxi licence
- Wheelchair accessible taxi-cab (WAT) licence.
Please note that conditions can be placed on licences (for example: the licensee may only be able to operate in a specified area).
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
