You will require this accreditation if you intend to provide non-government domestic or international adoption services.
Adoption services include:
- assessing the suitability of a person or persons for the adoption of a child
- making decisions about who may adopt a child
- making arraignments for the transfer of a child to their adoptive family.
Only charitable or not-for-profit agencies may apply for this accreditation.
This accreditation will help your agency improve its quality of care for children and maintain the current standards of good practice. Accreditation will also help your agency recognise any need for change or improvement to your services. Your application must include detailed outlines of your agency's structure, the programs you offer and any funding agreements you are a part of.
You may be granted full or provisional accreditation. Provisional accreditation will involve an indirect assessment of your adoption practices and procedures. Full accreditation may be granted when you begin providing adoption services and after an evidence based review of your adoption practices and procedures.
