Animal Welfare Code of Practice - Animals in Pet Shops - New South Wales

Description

You must comply with this code if you intend to operate or work in a pet shop. The code applies to the welfare of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, birds, fish and other vertebrate species sold as companion animals through retail trade.

The code outlines the responsibilities of managers and staff and sets standards for animal housing, security, hygiene, pest control, management, health and care, sale of animals, transport and special requirements for specific animals.
