You may need this licence if you intend to artificially inseminate greyhounds.
Artificial insemination consists of the use of techniques and procedures used to produce planned pregnancy of greyhounds.
All artificial insemination technicians must be registered. This registration authorises you to carry out the techniques and procedures involved in artificial breeding. This registration is generally granted to a registered veterinary surgeon. This registration allows you to do the following:
- handle greyhounds (other than at a race or trial)
- collect greyhound ejaculate for the purpose of inseminating a greyhound
- artificially inseminate a greyhound
- identify the location of breeding units and advise the controlling body of the location of breeding units.
All premises used as an artificial insemination facility must also be registered.
