Description

If your business involves the ownership of a dog or cat, you must ensure the animal is micro-chipped and registered.

Your companion animal must be micro-chipped by twelve weeks of age or before being sold or given away, whichever is first. Your companion animal must be registered by the time they are six months of age.

If you own a working dog, please contact your local council for further advice prior to submitting your application.

Eligibility requirements

Your animal must be microchipped by the time it is twelve weeks old in order for its identity to be registered.

Your animal must be placed on the life time register by the time it is six months old.

You must be over eighteen years old to register your cat or dog. If the pet belongs to a child or teenager, a parent or guardian must register the animal on their behalf.
