Firearms Museum Permit - New South Wales

Description

You will require this permit if you operate a public museum and intend to maintain and display a collection of firearms. The collection must have a genuine commemorative, historical, thematic or financial value. A public museum is a non-profit making institution that acquires, conserves and exhibits objects of scientific or historical interest for the purposes of study, education and public enjoyment.

Please note that all firearms are required to be registered with the exception of pre-1900 firearms that are not capable of discharging breach loading cartridges. All firearms that are part of the museum's collection must be rendered temporarily inoperable by removing the bolt or firing mechanism and keeping it separate from the firearm in a locked container of an approved type, or by using a trigger lock of an approved type

All employees of your museum are required to provide their details using the appropriate form. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
