Paintball Game Permit - New South Wales


You will require a permit if you intend to possess paintball guns for the purposes of operating a paintball game business. This permit does not authorise the possession or use of any paintball gun which has been altered to substantially duplicate in appearance any military style firearm or a paintball gun which has been altered to propel projectiles in rapid succession (fully automatic). Please be aware that:

  • employees and paint-ball guns must both be listed in the permit
  • anyone intending to possess and use their own paint-ball gun on an approved paint-ball field must have their own paint-ball gun permit
  • persons under 16 years of age cannot participate in paintball activities
  • parental / guardian consent is required for persons aged 16 - 18 years of age to participate in paintball activities.

Eligibility requirements

If you have never held a firearms licence or permit in NSW, or you do not currently hold an equivalent issued firearms licence or permit interstate, you are required to complete a firearm safety training course.

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • submit the required application forms and associated documentation (including a copy of development application, map and layout of field, public safety measures, etc)
  • pay the relevant application fees.

The permit will be issued for a maximum term of 5 years.
