Starting Pistol Permit - New South Wales

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to possess or use a starting pistol for the purpose of any sporting or other approved event. A starting pistol is a pistol that uses blank cartridges only. Permits can be issued to individuals, businesses, clubs or organisations.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • have written confirmation of details of the frequency and location of events or activities to be conducted
  • have information (including contact details) of each sporting club or organisation with which you are involved
  • have proof of identity (if no other NSW firearms licence or permit is held or been held).

Businesses, clubs or other organisations must supply their ABN, ACN, business registration certificate and public liability insurance documentation.

You may also need to complete an approved firearms safety training course for pistols. This requirement is dependent on whether you have previously held a Category H firearms licence or permit in New South Wales.
