Permit to Conduct a Progressive Lottery - New South Wales


You will require this permit if you intend to conduct a progressive lottery for entertainment or fundraising purposes. Please be aware that this permit is only required if the total value of ticket sales exceeds $25,000. A progressive lottery is a lottery or game of chance in which a number of draws may be conducted on various dates over a specified period of time and includes:

  • sports / football tipping competitions (excluding a sweep or Calcutta)
  • hundred clubs
  • silver circles
  • any other lotteries or games of chance conducted along significantly similar lines.

Please be aware that if you are conducting a progressive lottery for fundraising you may also require a separate approval to fundraise.

Anyone can apply to conduct a progressive lottery. To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • be 18 years of age or over
  • submit an application form and all the required information
