You will require a lease or a licence if you intend to obtain exclusive use or occupancy of Crown land (Government-owned land) for a specified amount of time.
A lease of Crown land will enable exclusive use over a particular piece of land for a specified term and purpose. For example, for extensive agricultural initiatives, long term extractive industries, irrigation, commercial and trading purposes, marina sites, domestic waterfront purposes and caravan parks, etc.
A Crown land licence is a contractual agreement that grants you the personal right to occupy and use Crown land for a particular purpose. For example, activities such as agriculture and cultivation, water supply and access and for short term purposes such as sporting events and site investigation associated with potentially acceptable development proposals.
Licences and leases may be granted through public tender, public auction or by invitation for expressions of interest. Additionally a lease can also be granted though a private treaty. Please consult the Agency for details specific to your enquiry and your location. The Agency will advise you regarding the most appropriate action for your individual circumstance.
Please be aware that you will require the Agency's permission if you intend to transfer, surrender or sublease Crown land granted under this licensing arrangement.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
