1080 Pest Animal Management Authorisation Permit - Northern Territory

Description

You will be required to apply for this permit if you intend to use the Schedule 7 poison - 1080, to control wild dogs. This may be required to mitigate the significant impact that wild dogs can pose to animal welfare and the conduct of profitable business.

If you are a property owner or manager, you will be responsible for providing a suitable workplace induction on the safe use and handling of 1080 products for all people who will distribute the bait.
If you need to reduce problems caused by feral pigs, foxes or rabbits, you may be able to get a 1080 Pest Animal Management Authorisation (1080 PAMA) ??? Other Pest Animals.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply for this permit you must:

  • have a current AusChem, ChemCert or SMARTtrain level 3 accreditation (certificate or card) or equivalent qualification
  • have undertaken 1080 training unit AHCPMG309 (formerly AHCVPT 302A) ???apply pest animal control techniques
  • read, understand and agree to comply with NT Directions of Use for 1080.

Additional information

Baits are allocated annually for each property and specified on the permit. The permit details the number of wet and dry baits and the volume of 1080 concentrate that can be purchased. You will need to apply for bait injection authorisation to prepare wet meat baits.

If you are a PAMA and permit holder you must keep records in an auditable, approved format like the property 1080 baiting record book. Your records must be provided to an appointed chemical adviser on request. Records include details of people who are trained and authorised to collect, lay and prepare baits as well as the notification, storage and usage of 1080 on the authorised property.
