You will need this registration if you intend to be registered to stock and sell certain medicines and poisons by wholesale in the Northern Territory. This includes poisons for therapeutic use, poisons restricted to medical, dental or veterinary prescription or supply, hazardous poisons, poisons requiring special precautions or those for which restrictions recommended for drugs of dependence apply.
If you are granted a certificate of registration, you can supply medicines and poisons to:
- medical practitioners
- dentists
- veterinarians
- pharmacists
- retailers licensed to sell Schedule 2 or 7 substances
- holders of medical kit authorisations.
You must see a person's authorisation or be satisfied they are authorised before you supply them. They should give you a signed written order. This authorisation does not allow you to supply medicines or poisons to a person with a prescription, you must direct them to a pharmacy.
